Last month we discussed selling product in a Mall 
Kiosk for the Holiday Season. 
This month we are still on the topic of 
"Have you figured out how to get the most of Holiday 
Sales?" 
I'll continue to give you some ideas, old and new on  
boosting your sales for the fourth quarter this year in  
our newsletters for the next couple of months. 
 
For most retailers, the busiest retail weeks of the year 
are between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day in contrast 
to the busiest wholesale weeks here at Springdale since 
we fill the shelves you. Many retailers attribute as much  
as 33 to 50 percent of their annualsales to the holiday 
season. The following ideas can help retailers spread  
their holiday business in several more weeks. 
...Run a special promotion on holiday items earlier 
in the year. Encourage your clients to spread out 
their shopping. Snag those holiday dollars early 
before your customers spend them in another store. 
 
...Develop product variations year-round. 
 
...Give your clients a coupon with their purchase 
that's good only the last half of January so they 
come back for their Valentine gifts early. it's  
important to your bottom line that a customer 
comes back and purchases after the holiday season 
instead of just a once a year visit to your store 
or website. 
 
...Find new niches to expand your market. 
 
...Host open houses..Have your first and largest 
one on Nov. 1 and carry it thru to Sunday afternoon 
or evening. Be sure to promote your open house 
in several ways to reach all your potential 
clients. If possible play Christmas music to 
set the mood. Have some sort of small give away 
to the first 100, 200, 500 customers,buyers.. 
whatever you can budget...and let everyone know in 
advance that the first shopper receive this gift. 
You could also have hot cider..depending upon 
your location, the weather etc. It's important 
to have a spread of price points for every type  
of client budget. 
 
Spreading out your business does not exactly mean 
that you should emphasize the holiday season  
equally with other season. An avalanch of customers 
is brought with the holiday season, and if you 
start planning early you can avoid getting 
buried.
